REAL-TIME EDITING, EFFECTS and COLOR CORRECTION -(Note: Classes taken prior to Jan 15th will be run using the FCP Beyond the Basics Courseware) Course Description: This three-day course delivers hard-to-find advanced editing and finishing techniques. Learn how to create polished transitions, fix screen direction errors, edit multi-camera projects, work with nested sequences, create fantastic effects, use filters creatively, color-correct your video, and composite like a pro. This course also covers Soundtrack Pro, managing clips and media, and working with film.

Who Should Attend? This course is designed for existing Final Cut Pro users who want to increase their skill level through learning advanced features and efficient workflows, and who prefer hands-on and interactive instruction. Also desirable are an understanding of the Macintosh operating system and basic computer navigation.
What You Will Learn: • Asymmetrical Trimming and Advanced Trim Edit window techniques. • Multicamera Editing. • Variable speed and slow motion techniques. • Nesting sequences and Rendering settings. • Working with filters. • Finishing and final output.
Prerequisites Students should have the following prerequisite knowledge prior to attending the course: • Final Cut Pro 101: An Introduction to Final Cut Pro or • Final Cut Pro 200: A Comprehensive Study of Final Cut Pro or • Final Cut Pro 250: Final Cut Pro for Avid Editors
Certification This course covers the requirements to become an Apple Certified Pro, Final Cut Pro 7 Level Two. Certification exams are offered for an additional $75 fee when taken in conjunction with a course. Please note, to be eligible to take a Level Two certification exam, you must first pass the Level One certification exam.
This certification also counts towards the Final Cut Studio Master Pro certification. FCS Master certification recognizes a Certified Pro's skills with the entire Final Cut Studio product suite.

Overview of Editing Basics
Review of Basic Editing Techniques, 3-point Editing Rule and Track Targeting.
Lesson 2
Advanced Editing Techniques
Smart Clip Loading, Using Match Frame, Using Replace Edit and Ganging Play heads.
Lesson 3
Trimming Basics
Basic Rippling, Basic Rolling, Extend Edit, and Splitting Edits.
Lesson 4
Advanced Trimming
Trimming from the Keyboard, Trim Edit Window, Dynamic Trimming, Multitrack Trimming and Asymmetrical Trimming
Lesson 5
Audio Editing
Adjusting Levels on the Fly, Adjust Levels Dialog, Applying Normalization Gain, Using Audio Filters, Sending to Soundtrack Pro, and Using the Audio Mixer Window.

Multicam Editing
Basic Multicamera Edits, Working with Multiple Angles, Editing Audio and Video Separately, Collapsing and Uncollapsing Multiclips, Match-framing Multiclips, Applying Effects to Multiclips and Multiclips and External Video.
Lesson 7
Compositing in Final Cut Pro
Basic Compositing Review, Creating Travel Mattes, Adding Graphics from a Layered Photoshop File, Keyframing Basics and Keyframing in the Timeline
Lesson 8
Mastering Filters
Customizing Filters, Understanding Filter Order, Filter Timing, Limiting Filter Effects, Creating Favoirte Filters, Hiding and showing Filter Controls and Working with Smoothcam.
Lesson 9
Nesting Sequences
Understanding Nested Sequences, Using Basic Nesting, Nesting in Place, Working Around Render Order, Mixing Sequence Sizes, Nesting as an Editing Tool, Nesting Master Filters and Unnesting.

Lesson 10
Preparing for Finishing
Nesting Sequences, Unnesting Sequences, Adding Widescreen mattes, Adding BITC, Managing Audio Outputs, Using the Media Manager and Exporting EDLs and XML Files.
Lesson 11
Troubleshooting Tips
Fixing Screen Direction Errors, Stealing Audio from Another Shot, and Removing a Boom.
Lesson 12
Outputting
Sharing to Apple Devices, Sharing to DVD and Blu Ray, Sharing for the Web, Using Compressor, Outputting Audio, Exporting Still Frames and Exporting QuickTime Movies.
Lesson 13
Lesson Review & (Optional) Certification Exam
During this final lesson, your Trainer will run a complete review of each of the topics you have covered in the class. There will be time for questions and answers as well as test preparation for those taking the optional certification exam. Trainees take an end user exam to earn Apple Certified Pro, Final Cut Pro Level Two status.
