Won't it cost me more to use Soho Editors? Our freelancers pay for our service. There are no client charges for our service and our operator rates are the same as those charged by independent freelancers.
How are rates decided?
A variety of different factors impact on freelancer rates including: i) The type of project (commercial, broadcast, feature). ii) Project length (long-form or last-minute cover). iii) Standard days or overnights | weekends | bank holidays. iv) The expertise of the freelancer.
What happens if a booking over-runs?
In terms of cost, an overtime rate is normally agreed in advance. With regards to keeping a freelancer working past the original booked hours, unless this is pre-empted by an advance warning (normally at the time of the booking), it is at the discretion of the operator.
Why don't I just go direct to the freelancer?
You can, but if your freelancer lets you down, you're back at square one. With one call to Soho Editors, you can have hundreds of quality assured editors and operators at your disposal and we do all the organising for you.
What makes your freelancers better?
Soho Editors have a careful and thorough vetting procedure:
- A comprehensive review of all reels and CVs.
- Every operator is interviewed and has their references checked.
- We ideally require a minimum of two-years experience in their chosen speciality.
- For us, personality and client skills are just as important as technical and creative ability.
What happens if I'm not happy with a freelancer you've provided?
While any 'incident' is assessed on a case-by-case basis, in the instance of a first booking we do offer a no satisfaction, no charge policy on the first day's work.
Are you available out-of-office hours?
Yes. Soho Editors is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

What will it cost me?
Nothing if we are unable to get you any suitable work. We deal very professionally with both clients and opertaors about rates and have many different agreements with clients so quoting a rate is not always possible, however you are under no obligation to take a booking and we will always get your acceptance of the rate for the contract, including any overtime or flexible working rates.
